Tefal Kitchen Appliances – Introduction

Tefal started in 1956 after French engineer Marc Gregoire invented the world’s first non-stick pan and the company was soon making over 100 pans a day. When a New York magazine published a photo of a celebrity buying a Tefal frying pan at Macy’s, orders went through the roof and demand soon reached 1 million units a month.

Tefal then started to branch out, releasing a range of sandwich toasters and irons which featured the same non-stick technology. Tefal also gained a footing in other markets, including the UK, with an electric kettle and a deep fryer which featured the brand’s new Coolwall technology.

Tefal has continued to build on its success, introducing a range of innovative features such as anti-scale protection on its irons, removable handles on its cookware for ease of storage, and the Tefal Thermo-spot, which alerts users of its frying pans when the optimum cooking temperature has been reached.Image of Tefal Steam Iron

Tefal is now part of Group SEB, which also has ties with Rowenta, Moulinex and Calor.
